Personally I think jackals aren’t scary or evil at all. But a Legion Of The Damned goddamn is! This is probably one of the highest anticipated albums of 2007, even though it will be released little over a week as I’m typing this. Believe me, if you liked Malevolent Rapture you can buy Sons Of The Jackal blindly.

For those few ignorant people who don’t know this band, it’s time to open your fucking eyes! At the moment Legion Of The Damned could very well be the biggest metal band of the little country we call The Netherlands. Playing the Wacken mainstage ain’t just something you do everday. For the music then, pure aggressive sick thrash metal with an overkill on double bass and vocals that tend to go towards black metal a bit, but suit the music perfectly. Legion Of The Damned should be the music the soldiers in Iraq play in their helmets goddammit!!!

 

To say that they’ve changed since the previous album isn’t an option. Just like with Slayer, if they were to change they would have no fans left probably. Never change a winning formula, especially if it tears the fucking skin of your face. Some minor changes can be mentioned though, like we now have bassist Harold (also active in Inhume and Charlie*Adler) officially in the ranks, writing and playing with the rest of the guys. Furthermore I can say that vocalist Maurice sounds a bit better than on the previous album, but that could be blamed on the, again, ultra killer hyper-aggressive production.

 

Slay the weak, burn the innocent, decapitate children, mutilate a priest and sodomize the motherfucking pope. This is what we expect from the Legion Of The Damned, and it is how they make you feel. Beware the Sons Of The Jackal!!!
